Who We Are
Nestled between Denver and Lincolnton in eastern Lincoln County sits Pumpkin Center Volunteer Fire Department’s district. Pumpkin Center Volunteer Fire Department’s Articles of Incorporation were established in 1975. By 1976, we were officially organized and operational. Our department provides fire suppression, rescue, medical first response and fire prevention services to the citizens, and visitors within our district.
Today, our department has approximately 40 members that include volunteers, full-time staff, part-time staff and live-in personnel. This is vastly different than 1976 when our department had between 15 and 20 members who were strictly volunteer firefighters. Through growth comes change, and we try to embrace those changes while keeping the traditions and values of those that have paved the way. We average approximately 50 calls for service monthly and respond from 2 separate fire stations within our district.
Our newest station on Amity Church Road helps our department to reach an ever-growing population and provide better coverage to areas within our community. Our district is poised for continued development and change, and we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
